Whether your goal is to be a professional musician or if you simply want to enjoy music, Casey can help you attain your ambitions. He teaches a diverse body of students from children to senior adults and has experience teaching students of all levels.

Beginners will start off with simple books, teaching keyboard fundamentals. Students will learn about scales and chord theory along with their useful applications. Gradually, as skill improves, Casey helps you learn the songs that you want to play and do the things you want to do on the piano.

He teaches out of the Faber and Faber adult series piano books. These books place a heavy emphasis on classical music which is perfect for learning to sight read. You can learn more about the books here.

If you already have experience playing the piano, together you can ascertain your goals and start from there.

Casey has over 20 years of experience playing the piano. Among other things, he will teach you:

  • proper technique
  • basic music theory - triads, simple scales, basic chord movement
  • jazz theory - chord voicings, scale theory
  • ear training - intervals, chords, and chord movement recognition
  • transcription - how to write out a tune by ear
  • improvisation - jazz or otherwise
  • sight reading skills for all styles
  • Lessons are given on a weekly basis and are $30.00 per half hour.
